It’s time to see what kind of fun can be had around here =)
Let’s make a quick list of the things we want.
- Beautiful scenery. (Yup, a boat’s great for that).
- Something outside while the temperature’s perfect.
- Some exercise. (What! Okay, if you say so.)
Boating fits the bill, of course. But here’s a second option if you’re headed to Lake Coeur d’Alene on the weekend of the 26th and you love bike riding.
It’s called the Coeur D’Fondo. It’s a road bike ride of varying difficulty, depending on what you feel like, Lance Armstrong or family day stroll speed, that showcases Lake Coeur d’Alene and the forest. The ride follows Idaho’s Scenic Byway; Highway 97 and passes through Harrison and St. Maries. Then it finishes back in downtown Coeur d’Alene at the fall Oktoberfest. (What a great finish!)
Here are the routes and distances for you to peruse:
Gran Fondo 108 miles
Medio Fondo 84 miles
Centro Fondo 47 miles
Piccolo Fondo 37 miles
Family Fun Ride 15 miles
For the Centro and Piccolo Fondo options, you get a boat ride back to Coeur d’Alene. (Yea boats!)
