BBQ’s with savory hamburgers and tangy salads, cool iced tea and lemonade, delicious watermelon and grapes. Feel the warm breeze and smell the blooming flowers. Awe summer and boating!
I might go so far as to say watermelon’s the epitome food for summer boating.
There’s nothing like sitting on a lake enjoying the sweet flavor of watermelon. Plus, it helps you stay hydrated at the same time as bringing a delightful food to your much needed boat time.
Obviously, you can eat watermelon by itself, but we figured we’d give you a few ideas for spicing it up if you’d like a bit more variety to your sweet snack.
- Watermelon Salsa: One of those foods just about anyone can enjoy. Grab a bag of chips and sit back for an afternoon of chilling. Heads up, this one has a bit of prep time, so give yourself some extra time to make plenty for your trip.
- Three-Melon Watermelon Salad: Here’s a chance for a variety of sweet flavors including cantaloupe, watermelon and honeydew. (Or whatever melon you’d like to add). Plus, this one takes about 10 minutes to prepare, so it’s easy to make, throw in the cooler, and be on your way.
- Minted Watermelon Salad: This one is also super quick in the prep. (Always a plus in my book). And you get the added bonus of mint to keep your breath minty fresh…um, cause you’re on that romantic date, right?
Anyway, we’d love to hear about your own boating food favorites in the comments. Otherwise, safe boating and enjoy some watermelon for us while you’re at it.
