Wandering around Cabela’s—I’ll pause for a second so you can picture yourself amongst the gear and trophy-animal mounts—is any outdoors person’s dream.
And, just in case you weren’t aware, there’s a Cabela’s in Post Falls with 125,000 sq. feet to entice you. This place even boasts an indoor archery test area. Um, yes please =)
What’s even cooler is that this weekend (Nov. 10th-13th) Cabela’s is hosting a Hometown Heroes weekend in which they’re honoring the sacrifices and service of military, veterans, law-enforcement, firefighters, and EMS personnel by offering discounts to these amazing people throughout the store.
Say you haven’t served but you know people have or who are still serving and you’d like to show your support? Cabelas is putting its in-store restaurant to good use by deep frying turkey and then adding dutch oven mashed potatoes and Canned Cooker corn to the meal. All you have to do, is donate to Project Healing Waters and you get a free tasting plate of this deliciousness.
According to Project Healing Waters, they are “dedicated to the physical and emotional rehabilitation of disabled active military service personnel and disabled veterans through fly fishing and associated activities including education and outings.” For more information, hop over here.
Just when you thought Cabela’s couldn’t get any cooler, they decide to majorly support our local heroes. So if you need some gear, consider visiting the store of amazing gear and indulging in deep fried turkey. I mean, who doesn’t like deep fried food eaten for a good cause?!
