We’re not talking about racing in a surf boat on Lake Coeur d’Alene – although we’d love to be on the lake – but we are talking about a Pacific Northwest gem called the Windermere Marathon.
What is the The Windermere Marathon Race
The Coeur d’Alene and Spokane area doesn’t just have the Ironman, which happens in June for 2021, in case you enjoy running.
The Windermere offers a full marathon, a half marathon, a 5K, and a Kid Challenge. The marathon and half marathon are on a course that is fast and flat and absolutely beautiful! It follows the centennial trail along the Spokane River. (For more about the Centennial Trail, click here.) This race is also known for PR’s and Boston qualifying. As the website says, “This race is a runner favorite among beginners through elite races trying to PR.”
Plus, to allow for Covid stuff, they have multiple start wave options over the morning and virtual or in person options for all who decide to participate. They managed to have live races in 2020 by working with state and local authorities to have social distancing for the event. So the race might not look totally normal, but it will still happen. For more on their Covid measures, you can check out their website below.
When: May 16th, 2021
For all the details for athletes or spectators including course maps, covid measures, costs and more, check out the Windermere Site.
